Background

The Tudor Farmhouse is an award-winning boutique hotel and restaurant in Clearwell, nestled in the Forest of Dean by the Wye Valley in Gloucestershire. This rural retreat is a former working farm which dates back to the 13th century and has been lovingly converted to house 20 luxurious bedrooms and suites. The restaurant prides itself on homely yet inventive dishes which are all locally sourced – often from its kitchen garden.

Previously with Guestline, The Tudor Farmhouse wanted to move to a single, transparent monthly fee while also benefiting from cloud technology, enabling them to run the hotel from any device, at any time, anywhere. They took advantage of the hospitality lockdowns of the pandemic to migrate and have been with Rezcontrol since March 2021.

Hotel owner Hari Fell knew it was going to be important to upgrade. She was keen to move on from a physical server which needed manual updating and backups, and to be able to automate more processes, for a single flat fee.

“We greatly value this combination,” said Hari. “It means that if a room is cancelled, a linked table reservation will automatically be deleted, while meal plan inclusions and deductions will be taken care of automatically, and F&B billing posted to the room where appropriate.”

Revenue management is a ‘plug and play’

The hotel has also been using revenue management integration RoomPriceGenie, and is starting to see the revenue increases this brings. They especially value the ease of use, as once the pricing parameters have been set, it alters rates according to demand, seasonality and the competition automatically.

“It’s ‘plug and play’ – it runs itself,” said Hari.

Integrations such as RoomPriceGenie work in tandem with Rezcontrol’s own rate management module, which contains all the hotel’s historical and future data, which then feeds into the integration algorithm to optimise pricing strategy.

Tudor Farmhouse also takes advantage of Rezcontrol’s automated marketing tools, which they find helpful and easy to use.
