Hospitality insights for 2026: Highlights from An Afternoon with Rezcontrol

What a day! Bringing together passionate hoteliers is what Rezcontrol is all about, and our recent exclusive event, An Afternoon with Rezcontrol, gave us the opportunity to do exactly that.

It was a chance for us and our customers to step away from the day-to-day and spend time talking about what really matters for modern hotels. From getting the most out of your property management system, to operational efficiency, technology, and the changing expectations of today’s guests – it gave our community the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and learn from one another. The session also gave attendees the chance to ask questions to the team behind the PMS – something we know our customers really value.

“It was a fantastic day! Wonderful to see so many Rezcontrol customers coming together and to be able to connect with them and see the way they engage with the system and our team.”

Sarah Cade, Director at Rezcontrol

A look ahead for Rezcontrol this year

The day opened with a welcome from the Rezcontrol leadership team, sharing an early look at what’s ahead for the hotel management platform in 2026. From continued innovation, to further integrations and smoother guest journeys, our focus remains on helping hoteliers simplify their day-to-day management while driving new opportunities for growth.

“We have been with Rezcontrol for around 15 years, and the best thing about them for us is the way they work so hard on continuous improvement and development – they really listen and find solutions.”

Elaine Booth, Owner of Royal Adelaide and The Christopher Hotel

Bringing trusted partners and customers together

For the Rezcontrol team, events like this are also about collaboration which is why we were so pleased to be joined by our partners, Giftpro, whose gift voucher platform integrates seamlessly with Rezcontrol to help hotels unlock additional revenue opportunities.

“I absolutely love events like this where independent hoteliers can get together and thrive – it can be tough in today’s world where the large chains hold so much of the buying power and marketing budget. It’s fantastic to be able to be part of their journey and see how well it can work out.”

Pauline Clitheroe, Business Development Manager at Giftpro

We were also joined by the team from hotel distribution platform, SiteMinder, who shared their expertise on helping hoteliers make the best possible channel decisions for their business.

“I really enjoyed the opportunity to speak and connect with everyone. I was especially struck by the culture at Rezcontrol. Seeing your team interact with your clients was the real highlight. It’s rare to find a tech partner so personally invested in their customers’ success – knowing everyone by name and understanding the nuances of their hotels is something you should be very proud of.”

Lisa Hartley, Strategic Account Manager at SiteMinder

Their perspective added another layer to the conversations around connected systems and how the right tech partnerships can support modern hotel operations.

The conversations shaping hospitality

One of the highlights of our afternoon was our panel discussion: Margins, Mindsets & Modern Guests: What Today’s Hoteliers Need To Thrive In 2026. Bringing together perspectives from across hospitality and tech, the panel explored the real-world challenges hoteliers are facing right now and how real businesses are responding.

“Rezcontrol has always been great to work with, with fantastic support, onboarding and integrations, so I was very happy to be there. There was a fantastic vibe in the room – I really enjoyed it, including taking part in the panel!”

Sid Kostromin, Bedrooms Support Manager at Honeycomb Houses (Brakspear)

Our host for the session, hospitality tech expert and founder of Tech on Toast, Chris Fletcher, gave us a rundown of some of the key insights from the panel:

  • Margin pressure is real. Labour, utilities, OTA commissions and operational costs are continuing to squeeze profitability across the sector.
  • Digital booking behaviour is accelerating. Guests are increasingly comfortable booking online and comparing options across multiple channels.
  • Distribution matters. Expanding from two to three booking channels can increase potential revenue by up to 148%, highlighting the importance of strong channel strategy.
  • Guest expectations have increased. Cleanliness, bathrooms, room quality and overall standards are under greater scrutiny than ever before.
  • Experiences are becoming a real revenue opportunity. Hotels are increasingly offering curated activities such as stargazing, foraging and local experiences to enhance stays and drive ancillary revenue.
  • Connected systems unlock commercial potential. Integrating PMS, ecommerce and gifting platforms allows hotels to monetise experiences, vouchers and additional services more effectively.
  • Digital gifting remains underutilised. Many hotels still manage vouchers manually, yet moving to digital gift voucher platforms can deliver ROI within days.
  • Mindset matters. Hari Fell, owner of the Tudor Farmhouse Hotel, highlighted the importance of leadership mindset. The culture and positivity set by leadership teams directly impacts both staff performance and guest experience.

Overall, the panel reinforced that the hotels best positioned for the next 12–18 months will be those that embrace technology, stay commercially focused and remain relentlessly guest centric.

Thanks to all involved!

While product updates and industry insight were a key part of our agenda, one of the most valuable aspects of the day was simply bringing our community together.

The event really created space for open conversation between customers, partners and the Rezcontrol team.

For me, it was also great to meet with independent hoteliers and see their perspective and the challenges they face – to see so many different properties in the room, coming together for an event like this.”

Paul Salmon, Retail Systems Supervisor for Fullers (Cotswold Inns and Hotels)

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the event and helped make it such a success. We’re incredibly grateful to our partners and panellists for sharing their expertise and helping shape such a thoughtful discussion.

And of course, thank you to our customers whose feedback, ideas and experiences continue to help shape the future of Rezcontrol.

We’re already looking forward to the next one!
